STAFF
Non-Teaching Staff
The administrative, technical, library, health, works and security personnel whose daily work keeps the University running for students and academics alike.
The Backbone of the University
Non-teaching staff at FUSTKABO outnumber academic staff and carry responsibility for admissions processing, examinations records, salaries and pensions, laboratory preparation, estate maintenance, library services, student health, campus security and information technology. Without them no lecture is scheduled, no result is released and no laboratory session takes place.
The cadre is organised into seven broad service groups — Administrative, Technical, Secretarial, Library, Health, Works and Maintenance, and Security — each reporting through a Principal Officer to the Vice-Chancellor. Appointments and promotions are handled by the Appointments and Promotions Committee (Non-Teaching), and remuneration follows the Consolidated University Non-Teaching Staff Salary Structure (CONTISS).
Three recognised unions represent non-teaching staff on campus: the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT). Each maintains a branch executive that participates in the University's Joint Consultative Committee.
