Check Admission Status

How to check whether you have been offered admission on JAMB CAPS and on the FUSTKABO portal — and exactly what to do next once an offer appears.

Two Places to Check, One Authoritative Record

Admission into any Nigerian university is processed through the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System, known as CAPS. An offer becomes real only when it appears on your CAPS dashboard and you accept it there. Nothing else — not a text message, not a social media list, not a name on a printed sheet — constitutes an offer of admission.

The FUSTKABO portal mirrors your CAPS record and adds the university-side steps: screening outcome, acceptance fee invoice, registration clearance and hall allocation. Check both, but treat CAPS as the authority on whether admission has been offered.

Checking is free on both platforms. The university does not charge for status checks and has not authorised any third party, cyber café or agent to check on your behalf. Never disclose your JAMB e-mail password or portal password to anyone.

Checking on JAMB CAPS

CAPS is accessed through the JAMB e-facility portal using the e-mail address and password created during UTME registration.

1

Log in to the JAMB e-facility portal

Go to the JAMB portal and sign in with the e-mail address and password you used to create your JAMB profile. If you have forgotten the password, use the password reset link — recovery is sent to the same e-mail address, so ensure you still have access to it.

2

Open the CAPS dashboard

Select "Check Admission Status (CAPS)" from the list of services, then choose the current examination year. Your dashboard displays your profile, your institution and programme of choice, and the current stage of processing.

3

Read the Admission Status panel

The panel shows one of several states — not yet admitted, in view, recommended, admitted, or rejected. Where an offer has been made, an Accept or Reject button appears alongside it. Read the accompanying note carefully before clicking anything.

4

Accept the offer within the stated window

Click Accept to take up the offer. Acceptance is a formal act: it binds the place to you and closes it to other candidates. If you decline, the place is released immediately and cannot be recovered later in the same cycle.

5

Print your JAMB admission letter

After acceptance, return to the e-facility portal to print your JAMB admission letter. This document is required for physical clearance, for NYSC mobilisation at the end of your programme, and for any future verification of your studentship.

Checking on the FUSTKABO Portal

Your university portal account tracks the FUSTKABO side of the process, from screening through to registration clearance.

1

Sign in with your application credentials

Visit the university portal and log in with the JAMB Registration Number and password you set when creating your application account. Use the password reset link if needed; the reset e-mail is sent to the address on your application.

2

Open the Admission Status page

From the applicant dashboard select Admission Status. The page shows your screening outcome, the department you have been considered for, and any outstanding document or payment holding up your file.

3

Clear any outstanding item

Where a document has been rejected as illegible or mismatched, re-upload it immediately. Files flagged for correction are not reviewed again automatically — the system only re-queues your application once a replacement has been submitted.

4

Download your provisional admission letter

Once you have accepted on CAPS and paid the acceptance fee, the FUSTKABO provisional admission letter becomes available on the portal. Print two copies: one for your records and one to present at physical clearance.

What Each Status Means

Status Meaning Action Required
Not Yet Admitted Your record exists on CAPS but the institution has not begun processing your file for this round. No action. Keep checking weekly; do not pay any fee to anyone.
In View The institution is actively considering your application against available places. No action, but ensure your O'Level result is uploaded to your JAMB profile.
Recommended The department has recommended you for admission; the offer awaits final approval and upload. Log in daily. An Accept button will appear once the offer is finalised.
Admitted — Awaiting Acceptance An offer has been made and is waiting for your response. Accept on CAPS within 14 days, then pay the acceptance fee within 21 days.
Admission Accepted You have formally taken up the offer on CAPS. Pay the acceptance fee, print your admission letter and begin registration.
Admission Rejected by Candidate You clicked Reject and the place has been released to another candidate. The place cannot be restored. You may be considered in a supplementary round only if vacancies remain.
Not Admitted You were not successful in this round of admission. Watch for the supplementary list, or consider JAMB change of institution where the window is open.
Awaiting O'Level Result Your JAMB profile carries no O'Level result, so your file cannot be processed. Upload your result to the JAMB portal immediately. Processing resumes automatically once it reflects.
Screening Not Completed A required document is missing, unreadable or inconsistent with your JAMB record. Open the FUSTKABO portal, read the reviewer note and re-upload the corrected document.
Payment Pending An invoice generated on the portal has not been settled. Pay through Remita, Paystack or Flutterwave and confirm the receipt appears on the portal.
Cleared for Registration Acceptance fee received and documents verified. Proceed to course registration and book your physical clearance appointment.
Admission Withdrawn An irregularity was found in your documents or you failed to meet a condition of the offer. Contact the Admissions Office in writing with supporting evidence within seven days.

Beware of Admission Scams

FUSTKABO does not sell admission. No staff member, agent, consultant or "connection" is authorised to collect money in exchange for a place, an upgraded UTME score, or a change of course. Every legitimate payment is made through an invoice generated on the university portal and settled via Remita, Paystack or Flutterwave.

If anyone asks you to pay into a personal account or to send money by transfer for "processing", "clearance" or "list inclusion", stop, keep the evidence and report the matter to admissions@fustkabo.edu.ng or to the Security Unit. Candidates who participate in such arrangements risk withdrawal of admission and prosecution.

After You Are Offered Admission

  1. Day 1

    Accept the offer on CAPS

Log in to JAMB CAPS and click Accept. Print the JAMB admission letter immediately afterwards and save a digital copy.

  2. Day 1–14

    Acceptance window closes

Offers not accepted on CAPS within fourteen days are withdrawn and the places reallocated to candidates on the waiting list.

  3. Day 2–21

    Pay the acceptance fee

Generate the acceptance fee invoice on the FUSTKABO portal and pay through Remita, Paystack or Flutterwave. Keep the receipt.

  4. Week 3

    Download the provisional admission letter

The FUSTKABO letter becomes available once acceptance is recorded. Print two copies for clearance.

  5. Week 3–4

Pay school fees and register courses

Settle first-semester fees, then register your courses on the student portal within the published registration window.

  6. Week 4

    Medical examination

Attend the university health centre for the compulsory medical screening. Professional programmes have additional fitness requirements.

  7. Week 5

    Physical clearance and biometrics

Present original copies of every document uploaded online. Biometric capture and student ID card issuance take place at this session.

  8. Week 6

    Hall allocation and orientation

Collect your accommodation allocation where granted, and attend the fresh students orientation programme.

  9. Week 7

    Matriculation

Take the matriculation oath and sign the register. You formally become a student of the university at this ceremony.

Status Check Questions

My status has read "In View" for weeks. Is something wrong?
Not necessarily. "In View" means your file is with the institution and under active consideration. Admission is released in batches over several weeks, and a long period in view usually reflects the volume of applications rather than a problem with your file. Confirm that your O'Level result is on your JAMB profile, since a missing result stalls processing silently.
I accepted admission on CAPS but the FUSTKABO portal still shows nothing.
Synchronisation between CAPS and the university portal runs periodically rather than instantly, so allow up to forty-eight hours. If the status has not updated after that, e-mail caps@fustkabo.edu.ng with your JAMB Registration Number and a screenshot of your CAPS dashboard.
I rejected the offer by mistake. Can it be reversed?
Once rejected, the place is released on CAPS and reallocated. Write immediately to admissions@fustkabo.edu.ng explaining what happened. Reinstatement is possible only if the place has not yet been taken by another candidate and JAMB permits the reversal, and neither can be guaranteed.
Was I admitted into a course I did not apply for?
Where a candidate narrowly misses the cut-off for a highly competitive programme, the university may offer a place in a related programme for which the candidate is fully qualified. You are free to accept or reject the alternative offer. If you accept it, you may apply for an internal transfer at the end of 100 level subject to performance and available capacity.
How long do I have to pay the acceptance fee?
Twenty-one days from the date the offer is made. The invoice is generated on the university portal and remains valid for that period. Offers where the acceptance fee is unpaid at the end of the window are treated as declined.
Do I still need to check if I have already received an SMS?
Yes. SMS and e-mail notifications are a courtesy and can be delayed or lost. Only the CAPS dashboard and the university portal are authoritative, and fraudulent messages announcing admission in exchange for payment are common during the admission season.
