Academic Calendar 2026/2027

Key dates for registration, lectures, examinations and vacations for the 2026/2027 academic session, as approved by Senate.

About the Session

The 2026/2027 academic session of the Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo runs from October 2026 to August 2027 and comprises two semesters of fifteen teaching weeks each, followed by a revision week and a three-week examination period. Faculties whose programmes are regulated by professional bodies, notably Clinical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing Sciences and parts of Allied Health Sciences, operate supplementary clinical calendars that extend beyond these dates.

All students are expected to be in residence and to have completed registration before lectures begin. Fee payment and course registration deadlines are strictly enforced; a student who has not registered by the close of the registration window is not on the examination list and cannot be graded for that semester.

This calendar should be read together with the Academic Guidelines. Departments publish detailed lecture and laboratory timetables at the start of each semester, and the Directorate of Academic Affairs publishes the examination timetable no later than four weeks before the first paper.

Senate approval and amendments

This calendar was approved by the Senate of the Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo and remains subject to amendment. Dates may be adjusted on account of public holidays declared by the Federal Government, religious observances whose dates depend on moon sighting, industrial action, or directives from the National Universities Commission. Any amendment is communicated through the Registrar and published on this page and on the student portal.

Notes for Students

  • Fee payment and course registration must both be completed before the published deadline; the portal closes automatically and no manual registration is accepted thereafter.
  • Students who have not registered a course will not appear on the attendance register or the examination list for that course, regardless of attendance.
  • The 75 per cent lecture attendance requirement is enforced from the first week of lectures, not from the date of a student's arrival on campus.
  • Examination timetables are published on the student portal and on faculty notice boards; students should check for clashes immediately and report any conflict to the Faculty Officer within three days.
  • Clinical and laboratory-based programmes may schedule postings during semester breaks; students in these programmes should confirm dates with their departments before travelling.
  • The University reserves the right to require students to remain on campus during a break where academic work makes it necessary.
