How to Apply

Everything you need to secure a place at FUSTKABO for the 2026/2027 academic session — from JAMB registration to tracking your admission status.

2026/2027 Applications Are Now Open

The Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo is receiving applications into all undergraduate programmes across its ten faculties for the 2026/2027 academic session. Both UTME and Direct Entry candidates may apply.

Applications are submitted online only, through the university portal. The university does not appoint agents, and no application is processed offline or by hand.

Before You Begin

Admission into FUSTKABO is competitive and merit-based. Every candidate must first sit the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and select Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo as first choice institution, or apply through Direct Entry with an acceptable advanced-level qualification.

Selecting FUSTKABO as your first choice matters. Under the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), universities are only able to consider candidates whose first choice is that institution during the primary admission window. Second-choice candidates are only considered where places remain after the first round.

Read this page completely before you start. Applications that are incomplete, that carry mismatched names, or that are supported by documents which cannot be verified are set aside and will not be considered, and the application fee is not refundable in any circumstance.

The Application Process, Step by Step

Nine stages take you from JAMB registration to a tracked application. Work through them in order — later steps depend on data captured in earlier ones.

1

Register for UTME with JAMB

Create a JAMB profile using a phone number registered in your own name, obtain your profile code by SMS, and complete registration at an accredited CBT centre. Your biometric capture and passport photograph are taken here. Keep your JAMB Registration Number and e-mail password safe — you will need both at every later stage.

2

Choose FUSTKABO as your first choice

On the JAMB registration form, select Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo as your first choice institution and enter the exact programme you intend to study. Confirm the spelling of the programme; a course chosen in error can only be corrected later through a JAMB change-of-course exercise, which attracts a separate fee.

3

Check the entry requirements for your programme

Confirm that you hold, or expect to hold, five (5) credit passes at not more than two sittings including English Language and Mathematics, together with the subject combination prescribed for your programme. Compare your UTME subject combination against the published requirement before the examination, not after.

4

Sit the UTME and obtain your score

Sit the examination on the date and at the centre printed on your JAMB slip. Results are released through the JAMB portal and by SMS. Scores between 160 and 200 are required depending on the competitiveness of the programme, and meeting the minimum score is a threshold, not a guarantee of admission.

5

Create your FUSTKABO portal account

Visit the university portal and register using your JAMB Registration Number, surname, a working e-mail address and a Nigerian phone number. The system verifies your details against the JAMB record. An activation link is sent to your e-mail; the account must be activated before the application form will open.

6

Complete the online application form

Fill in your biodata, state and local government of origin, next of kin, secondary school history, examination sitting details and subject grades exactly as they appear on your result. Names must be entered in the same order as on your JAMB profile — a mismatch between the two records is the single most common cause of rejected applications.

7

Upload your supporting documents

Scan and upload each required document as a clear PDF or JPEG not exceeding 1MB per file. Photographs of documents taken with a phone are accepted only where the whole document is visible, in focus and legible. Blurred, cropped or watermarked uploads are rejected during screening.

8

Pay the ₦2,500 application fee

Generate an invoice on the portal and pay through Remita, Paystack or Flutterwave using a debit card, bank transfer or over the counter at any commercial bank with the Remita Retrieval Reference. Payment confirmation is normally instant; bank-branch payments may take up to twenty-four hours to reflect.

9

Submit and track your application

Review every section, submit, and print the acknowledgement slip bearing your application number. Thereafter monitor both the FUSTKABO portal and JAMB CAPS for screening invitations, admission offers and further instructions. Notifications are also sent by e-mail and SMS, but the portal remains the authoritative record.

Documents You Must Upload

Prepare these before you start the form. The portal saves your progress, but an application cannot be submitted until every mandatory document is attached.

  • JAMB UTME result slip for the current examination year (or the JAMB Direct Entry admission slip for DE candidates).
  • O\'Level result checker printout or statement of result — WAEC, NECO or NABTEB. Where two sittings are combined, upload both results.
  • Birth certificate issued by the National Population Commission, or a sworn declaration of age from a court of competent jurisdiction.
  • Certificate of State of Origin signed and stamped by the chairman or secretary of your local government area.
  • Recent passport photograph on a plain white background, in colour, with both ears and the full face visible.
  • Primary School Leaving Certificate or First School Leaving Certificate testimonial.
  • Secondary school testimonial or attestation letter signed by the principal.
  • For Direct Entry candidates: National Diploma, NCE, IJMB, JUPEB or A-Level certificate together with the complete academic transcript.
  • For transfer applicants: an official transcript and a letter of good standing from the previous institution.
  • Evidence of payment of the ₦2,500 application fee, generated automatically on the portal after a successful transaction.

Applying With an Awaiting Result

Candidates awaiting the release of a WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result may apply. Select the awaiting result option on both your JAMB profile and the FUSTKABO application form, and enter the examination number and year of sitting.

When your result is released you must upload it to the JAMB portal without delay. FUSTKABO draws O\'Level data directly from JAMB during screening, and an admission cannot be processed while the result field on your JAMB profile remains empty.

Candidates whose results are still outstanding at the close of the admission window forfeit consideration for the session. There is no extension for late uploads, and the university is unable to intervene in JAMB result processing.

  • Upload your result to the JAMB portal the day it is released.
  • Confirm the upload has reflected by viewing your JAMB profile.
  • Ensure the names on the result match your JAMB registration.
  • Retain the original certificate for physical clearance on campus.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to choose FUSTKABO as my first choice?
It is strongly advised. During the primary admission window, only candidates who selected FUSTKABO as first choice can be processed on CAPS. Second-choice candidates are considered only where vacancies remain after first-choice admissions are concluded, and those vacancies are limited.
What is the minimum UTME score for admission?
The working range is 160 to 200 depending on the programme. Highly subscribed professional programmes such as Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, Nursing Science and Medical Laboratory Science operate at the upper end, while several programmes in Science, Management Sciences and Environmental Sciences admit from 160 upwards. The final departmental cut-off is determined each year by the volume and quality of applications received.
Can I combine results from two different examination bodies?
Yes. A WAEC result may be combined with a NECO or NABTEB result, provided the two sittings together produce the required five credits including English Language and Mathematics, and the total number of sittings does not exceed two. Results from three or more sittings are not acceptable for any programme.
Is there a Post-UTME examination?
FUSTKABO conducts a screening exercise rather than a written Post-UTME for most programmes. Screening consists of online document verification followed by physical verification of originals. Selected professional programmes may in addition require a short aptitude test or interview; candidates affected are notified individually through the portal.
I made a mistake on my application form. Can it be corrected?
Corrections to biodata are possible on the portal until you submit the form. After submission, contact the Admissions Office with your application number and supporting evidence. Changes to your name, date of birth or programme must first be effected on the JAMB profile, as the university record is reconciled against JAMB data.
How do I change my course or institution after registering with JAMB?
Course and institution changes are made through the JAMB change-of-course/institution portal, not through FUSTKABO. JAMB charges a separate fee for the service and opens the window for a limited period. Once the change reflects on CAPS, update your FUSTKABO application to match.
Does FUSTKABO admit Direct Entry candidates?
Yes. Candidates holding a National Diploma at Upper Credit, an NCE at Merit, IJMB, JUPEB or two A-Level passes in relevant subjects may apply for Direct Entry admission into 200 level, subject to the same five credit requirement at O'Level. Direct Entry candidates must register with JAMB for Direct Entry and select FUSTKABO.
Is accommodation guaranteed for fresh students?
The university gives priority to fresh students in hall allocation, but places are finite and allocation is not automatic. Applications for accommodation open on the student portal after the acceptance fee has been paid, and are processed on a first-come basis.
Who do I contact if the portal will not accept my payment?
Retry once, then check whether your bank has debited you. If a debit occurred without confirmation, e-mail admissions@fustkabo.edu.ng with your application number, the transaction reference and the Remita Retrieval Reference where applicable. Do not repeat the payment more than twice; duplicate payments are reconciled and refunded at the end of the cycle.
